Power Supply Design
Whether
the power supply you need is a low cost desktop application, or
a high reliability medical or industrial supply, O'Grady Engineering
has the expertise and experience to help you achieve your power
supply design goals.
We
can take your product from concept to production. We pride ourselves
on rugged power supply designs, and satisfied customers. To achieve
this we will work with your engineering staff to assure the power
supply design you get will meet or exceed your specifications.
We routinely make cost cutting suggestions, or advise on ways
to increase reliability without adding to costs.
In
order to meet the design goals of our customers, and provide them
with an optimized custom power supply design, we employ the following
standards and software:
Topology
Selection
Proprietary Excel and MathCAD based software is used to assist
us in determining which of the many power supply topologies is
best able to meet the customer's requirements.
Parts
Stress Analysis
Proprietary Excel based parts analysis software is used to determine
the stress imposed on each part in the design. Unless otherwise
specified by the customer, we design to the recommendations of
the Department of Defense Reliability Analysis Center (RAC). We
also use the design practices set forth in the Navy Power Supply
Standard NAVSO P-3641A.
Parts Optimization
It is important in any electronics design that the parts in the
design are optimized for their application and that their values
are centered. To accomplish this we use a combination of mathematics
solutions and spice circuit simulations to verify each circuit's
operation.
Design
Reliability
When requested by the customer we can run a design reliability
analysis to Mil-Hdbk-217 or Belcore standards. We use Relex reliability
software version 7.1
Bench
Test Verification
Every power supply we design undergoes extensive circuit verification
on the test bench. Operating points and loop stability are verified
and provided to the customer.
Thermal
Analysis
Thermal part stress is a part of the design process, and is verified
during bench testing of the prototype power supply.
Schematic
Generation
Schematic documents are generated using P-cad version 2002 software.
PCB Design
PCB artwork is generated using P-cad version 2002 software.
Parts
Lists
We supply our customers with a complete Excel based parts list.
